Organized via Facebook, the event attracted over 31 people for a night of porky delights.
We’ve been playing around the idea of an “all-star” dining concept, where people can contribute - (by means of a potluck-ish kind of event) - the best of the best of restaurant food. This was actually based on the idea of another friend of mine, Ryan Villena, who threw a party with McDonald’s fries, Max’s Fried Chicken, Tropical Hut Burgers and the like.
So why not do it for pork?
It just so happened that I had a trip to the Lechon capital of the Philippines, Cebu City and since it was a lightning trip, I could definitely hand carry some porkish delights and match it with some drinks and other stuff in Cyrano, a wine bar that had a great community of silly people.
I sent out this Facebook invite a week prior to the event and we ended up with over 50 people confirming attendance. Myra and I ended up shipping a huge lechon from Cebu instead. We then matched this with Sisig from Aysee’s, Liempo from Chic-boy and other porky delights. The lechon supplier even tossed in a vat of diniguan for good measure.
It was pork heaven.

Join our growing group of warrior eaters for BABOY VS. BABOY, an all-star pork extravaganza with ONE WHOLE CEBU LECHON as our pièce de résistance. There will also be dinuguan, sisig, chicharon, crispy pata and barbecue… Unlimited rice is a given.
THE FINE PRINT: We’ll be asking you guys to contribute to the lechon fund. Recommended contribution to the “pork barrel” is php300/person to fund the 30kg. lechon. Extra funds will be used to buy softdrinks and ice, paper plates and glasses, rice and even more pork.
WE’LL HAVE IT IN CYRANO: Wash it down with Cyrano’s fine wine and beer selection. Much thanks to Alex for hosting this night of gluttony!
